Alyssa Naeher Biography

Alyssa Michele Naeher, born April 20, 1988, is an American professional soccer player who has played as a goalkeeper in the National Women's Soccer League. She competed in college soccer for the Penn State Nittany Lions, earning first-team All-American recognition on two occasions. Naeher has represented the United States national team in 115 international appearances from 2014 through 2024. She began her professional career in the 2006 USL W-League season with the Western Mass Lady Pioneers, recording 11 appearances and a 0.59 goals against average. Selected by the Boston Breakers in the 2010 Women's Professional Soccer draft, she was the first goalkeeper chosen in that year's draft. Her first professional shutout occurred on August 4, 2010, during a match against the Atlanta Beat. After the 2011 WPS season, she joined the German Bundesliga club Turbine Potsdam.
