Alperen Şengün Biography

Alperen Şengün, born on 25 July 2002, is a Turkish professional basketball player who has played in the National Basketball Association with the Houston Rockets. He has competed for the senior Turkish national team in international basketball events. Şengün was chosen 16th overall in the first round of the 2021 NBA draft following his performance in youth and domestic leagues. In 2012, he began his basketball development with youth teams connected to Giresun University, continuing until 2014. During the 2018–19 season, he captured the Turkish Basketball Youth League title while playing for Banvit’s under-19 squad. For the 2019–20 BSL season, he joined Teksüt Bandırma, a team competing in the top-tier Turkish Super League. Over the 2020–21 BSL season, he recorded 18.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 blocks in 28.1 minutes per game across 34 games.
