Allen Iverson, born on June 7, 1975, is an American former professional basketball player who competed in the National Basketball Association. He played 14 seasons in the NBA, primarily as a shooting guard and point guard, and was widely known by his nickname 'the Answer'. Iverson earned NBA Rookie of the Year honors during his first season with the Philadelphia 76ers in 1997. Before joining the NBA, he played two seasons at Georgetown University, where he established a school record for career scoring average and won the Big East Defensive Player of the Year award each year. He captured the NBA scoring title in four separate seasons, including 1998–99, 2000–01, 2001–02, and 2004–05, despite his height of 6 feet, 0 inches. Iverson competed for the United States in the 2004 Summer Olympics, where he helped secure a bronze medal. Later in his career, he played for the Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, and Memphis Grizzlies, concluding his NBA tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2009–10 season.
