Alexander Rossi Biography

Alexander Michael Rossi, born on September 25, 1991, is an American racing driver who has competed in the IndyCar Series with Ed Carpenter Racing. Rossi participated in five Formula One Grands Prix during the 2015 season. He captured victory in the Indianapolis 500 as a rookie in 2016 while driving for Bryan Herta Autosport, and later won the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2021 with WTR. Raised in Nevada City, California, Rossi began his racing career in the United States before relocating to Europe as a teenager to pursue opportunities in Formula One. In 2008, he returned to compete with EuroInternational, a team that had previously won two Formula BMW championships. His victories at Brno, Spa, and Imola during the 2009 season placed him second in the number of wins that year, behind Fabio Leimer. Rossi joined the GP3 Series in 2010, racing for ART Grand Prix, a team with a history of multiple championship wins.
