Alex Bregman Biography

Alexander David Bregman, born on March 30, 1994, is an American professional baseball player who has competed as a third baseman in Major League Baseball. He has played in MLB for the Houston Astros and the Boston Red Sox during his professional career. As a high school sophomore at Albuquerque Academy in 2010, he was recognized as the top high school baseball player in the United States by winning the USA Baseball Player of the Year Award. During his three-year college career at Louisiana State University, he received the 2013 National Freshman of the Year honor from Baseball America and won the Brooks Wallace Award as the nation's best college shortstop. He was selected by the Houston Astros with the second overall pick in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft, shortly before completing his junior year at LSU. Bregman began his MLB career in 2016 after being promoted from the minor leagues. He earned his first Gold Glove Award in 2024 for his defensive performance at third base.
