Alan Trammell Biography

Alan Stuart Trammell, born on February 21, 1958, is an American former professional baseball shortstop, manager, and coach. He has been inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Since the 2014 season, Trammell has served as a special assistant to the general manager of the Detroit Tigers. He earned World Series MVP honors during the 1984 championship, where the Tigers defeated the San Diego Padres. His defensive skills closely matched those of his double-play partner, Lou Whitaker. Trammell made his major league debut on September 9, 1977, alongside Lou Whitaker, after playing together in the Tigers' farm system in Montgomery. He first reached the All-Star game in 1980, batting .300 that season.
