Al Horford Biography

Alfred Joel Horford Reynoso, born on June 3, 1986, is a Dominican professional basketball player who has played in the National Basketball Association under the nickname 'Big Al'. He has been selected as an NBA All-Star on five occasions and has won an NBA championship title. Horford played college basketball for the Florida Gators, where he started as center on the team that won the NCAA national championship in both 2006 and 2007. After his tenure with the Boston Celtics, he played for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Oklahoma City Thunder before returning to Boston prior to the 2021 season. In 2000, Horford and his family relocated to Lansing, Michigan, where he attended Grand Ledge High School and became a standout player on the school’s basketball team. He holds seven school records, including the record for most career points with 1,239. Horford began his college career with immediate impact in 2004–05, starting at center alongside David Lee and helping the Gators claim the 2005 Southeastern Conference tournament championship.
