Sean Landeta Biography

Sean Edward Landeta, born on January 6, 1962, was an American professional football player who served as a punter in both the USFL and the NFL. He played college football for the Towson Tigers, representing the university in his collegiate career. At Loch Raven High School in Towson, Maryland, Landeta earned All-City and All-Metro honors as a punter during his single season in 1978. In 1981, he recorded a school record 72-yard punt, and in 1980 he made a school record 57-yard field goal. Landeta was selected to the All-USFL team in both 1983 and 1984 for his performance as a punter. After the USFL dissolved, he joined the NFL's New York Giants, winning Super Bowls in 1986 and 1990 during his nine seasons with the team, and later returning in 2006 for his final season. During the 2001 season, while playing for the Eagles, Landeta established the NFL record for most punts, total punting yardage, and punts inside the 20-yard line.
